Bluehost, Hostmonster and Others Taken Down For A Day
Hosting company Bluehost out of Provo Utah was left scrambling to fix an as yet unnamed issue that took down their network leaving thousands upon thousands of customers without their websites and email.
Bluehost's Twitter and Facebook feeds were flooded with angry customers complaining about lost revenue, while their social media spokesperson posted updates and responded to clients personally all day long.
Endurance International Group, owners of Bluehost hosting service posted the following message on their website:
"During the morning of August 2, 2013, Endurance International Group’s data center in Provo, UT experienced unexpected issues that impacted customers of Bluehost, HostGator, HostMonster and JustHost. Company websites and some phone services were affected as well."
In the meantime a real time web monitoring report is showing network attacks worlwide at an increased incidence of between 60% and 75% all day on August 2nd.
Bluehost, on their Twitter feed states, "Servers are up and customer accounts are beginning to appear online. We assure you that your site will be back up." to reassure angry customers. Similar responses may be found on their Facebook page.
New Times Reporter website has also been affected by this outage.
